2023 CALENDAR: RELATIONSHIPS

Hi! This years calendar features a collection of artwork that is exploring different kinds of relationships that exist and the lifelong experiences of learning how to care for them. There are so many parts of our human lives that are relational! I have been considering the ways I tend (or neglect) many types of relationships in my own life and I was motivated to create these illustrations to nourish my own continued journey with that.

A root thought that oriented me in this project is “What is right relationship?” I first heard this phrase from adrienne marie brown and Autumn Brown on the “How to Survive the End of the World” podcast. What does it mean to be in a right relationship with oneself, friends, family, partners, local and global community, children, and elders? What about all living creatures, the land itself, and concepts like “power” and “grief”? Each month offers the artwork along with a few questions. Sometimes I’ve shared an important quote that informed my creative process for that particular illustration. I’m really excited to share these offerings and invite you to consider your own relational landscapes with me. Thanks for looking.
